About this event

Experience a beautiful cross-cultural dance production at "Inhabited Body," an intimate multi-generational performance staged live at The Studio Theatre within the NMACC in Mumbai. Taking place on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at 7:00 PM, this highly engaging 70-minute event explores the bonds of motherhood through a unique blend of Indian and Spanish dance movement. Priced from ₹750 onwards, the multilingual showcase features live choreography set to a stellar musical score, welcoming audiences aged 12 and above.

Immerse yourself in a moving exploration of memory, heritage, and female solidarity with the premium multidisciplinary production "Inhabited Body," coming to the design-led Studio Theatre at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), Mumbai. Scheduled for a prime weekend evening slot on Sunday, 23 August 2026, this comprehensive 1-hour-and-10-minute cultural event bridges international performance philosophies through live choreography and cinema. Delivered across a multilingual framework, the showcase enforces a standard maturity entry limit of 12 years and older to preserve the deep focus of the auditorium environment.

The specialised evening is structured into two distinct segments that track the creative dialogue between India and Spain:

The Cinematic Prelude: The event kicks off with an exclusive screening of 'MUDRAS: DANCING TO INVISIBLE STRINGS'. This milestone project holds the distinction of being the first official film co-production between India and Spain, following its critically acclaimed world premiere at the Málaga International Film Festival in February 2026.

The Live Duet: The centrepiece of the evening is 'Inhabited Body', a highly personal choreographic duet performed live by veteran Spanish dancer, actress, and choreographer Mónica de la Fuente alongside her daughter, the award-winning dancer Nazaré de la Fuente.

The core concept of the live piece uses contemporary movement to construct a shared language capable of capturing the intricate nuances of the mother-daughter relationship. The choreography blends Mónica’s extensive twenty-year background in Indian classical forms—honed through rigorous studies of Bharatanatyam and Kathakali at Kalakshetra, Kerala Kalamandalam, and Margi—with Nazaré’s professional training in Spanish dance, Kalaripayattu, and Kathakali. This physical conversation is beautifully elevated by an original background score composed by Germán Díaz and the legendary Dr L. Subramaniam, seamlessly woven together with spoken-word excerpts from personal diaries and literary texts by Adrienne Rich and Amaranta Osorio.

With entry ticket passes starting at a baseline of ₹750 onwards, this boutique production delivers premium artistic and educational value inside one of the city's finest cultural institutions. It stands out as an outstanding weekend plan for local dance students, theatre practitioners, and families wishing to experience high-impact, global performance art live on a Mumbai stage.
