A. R. Rahman is an Indian composer, singer and performer celebrated for music in Tamil- and Hindi-language cinema. His official biography records Academy, Grammy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, National Film and Filmfare recognition, while his current work also includes live performance, the Firdaus Orchestra and the KM Music Conservatory he founded. NCPA's Sufiana Safar programme presents Rahman exploring qawwali and Sufi repertoire through traditional works, contemporary arrangements and selected film compositions.
